What is Microsoft 365 and what are the benefits
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) is a set of services that brings the latest team collaboration features in one environment. It includes not only Office desktop applications that you are familiar with - such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel, but also OneDrive online storage and cloud features that allow you to collaborate on files in real time. In addition to email, you will be able to use the Teams platform to communicate with colleagues and students, which allows you not only to send text messages, but also to make audio / video calls and share content from your devices.
You will be able to use all services on PCs and MACs, but also on tablets and Android or iOS phones. In addition, you will be able to access these services from your private devices, including the installation of Office desktop applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).
Entitlement to Office 365 desktop applications and how to obtain them
Each full-time employee and AMU student has five free Office 365 licenses at their disposal. The license is limited only to the active period of your studies or employment. When finished, it will be automatically canceled and the installed applications will go into restricted mode, where you can only view and print documents, but you cannot create new ones or edit existing ones.
Because the installed Office 365 periodically validates the license over the Internet, if you do not connect your device to the Internet within 30 days, the device license will expire, and applications will go into restricted mode. After connecting to the Internet, the license (and full functionality of the applications) will be automatically renewed again.
You can download the Office 365 installation package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) from the Office portal. Enter your full email address as the username, the password is the same as for the AMU computer network.
If you already have another version of Office installed on your computer, the installation of Office 365 will either uninstall it for you, or Office 365 will be blocked, and it will not be installed until you uninstall your own Office. If you have multiple user profiles on your computer (such as a computer shared with your family), we do not recommend replacing your current Office, because Office 365 is activated only under the user who is signed into Office 365.
